BRIEF UPDATE from Bryan and Jennifer Jurkowski serving as Dorm Parents at Black Forest Academy.
CONSTANT. That is how life feels for us. It’s life lived in a house, no it’s a dorm and we try to make it as much of a home as we can. A home with twenty-five people, most of them teenagers and twenty four of them females. It’s a life not always of consistency but always is constant.
We are constantly cooking and preparing some kind of food. There are the constant reminders to do homework. Constant noise. Continual trips to the doctors and dentists. There always seems to be someone sick, someone sad, someone laughing. Why do teenage girls laugh so much anyway? We are constantly watching the boys that seem to constantly have interests here. Life living with any teenager is full, life living with many (you do not have many unless you have at least twenty) teenagers is constant. Then there is the constant and never ending amount of garbage and in the German system it all needs to be placed in different classifications and categories. Constant noise – did I mention the noise. There are the dishes, laundry, setting tables, always someone to take to and pick up. We seem to be constantly shopping! How do teenagers eat so much? Everything is constant.
I think of God and His love, grace and care for us. It too is constant. When I am tired and weak. If I forget Him He never forgets me. He is constantly working in my life, He is constantly looking for my welfare even when I seemingly do not see it. He is the one constant in my life I constantly need more of.
This year in the dorm we have twenty girls, half of them new. We also have three new RA’s, young women with a heart for Jesus who we are so thankful for. The parents of our girls serve all over the world to fulfill the constant call of Jesus to go into all the world. This is why we are here and we constantly remind ourselves of this. Because we want our lives to be about something far bigger than ourselves.
We constantly are thankful and grateful to all who support and pray for us. You are amazing and we thank God for you, constantly, in our hearts and prayers.
